Peering Deep Into a Signature- This Beast Before Me

this signature...
this signature that I see before me,
looking down upon it's mirrored plane of psyche
reflecting faults, emotions,
despairs, and weaknesses...
escape
if I could
those cursed letters that are me.

there, a ray of hope, for I see constant change-
it is not written the same way twice-
here it is careless, there,
with a slight hint of sorrow,
and that one positively upbeat;
who will I be tomorrow?

scribbled much too fast, on the whole, rushed
accustomed to finalize technical documents,
pressed a bit too hard
in a business world of survival,
yet too hard for the soft hands that she offers me
again and again,
and hence there is no survival, survival is lost.

cursed scrawls upon the page...
tell me another story,
any other story.

endeavor to slow it down, yes... just once,
as in life-
a life spent too hastily to stop and tend the gardens...
they die;
perhaps lingering a bit longer would remedy things,
flowing through life slower would do it, and me, some good...

perhaps I would create what she sees,
and not this beast before me.

    wow! a tummultuous journey drawn upon the page poet, and contradictions between who you are in you work and who you are or would like to be given more time and less rush. smiles - take time to practice the looser flourish and the gentle slant perhaps. I liked this poem although i personally think the last two lines over did it a bit. well done and thank you for entering it in my contest.

    You know my teacher always complained that I never wrote the same signature twice, I think she thought I cheated lol, I still do it today, causes my bank much angst!

    How very deep you've perveyed into a signature! And I thought these fleeting moments of self examination looking at my scribles over time was unique to my worry wart behavior.Great depth and expressing thoughts came thru with this piece.~Suseann

    life my friend isn't all what it's meant to be... we eat at each other just to make ends meet... yet forget the real purpose in life is to care for those around us.
    Keep penning on one stroke at a time!
