Sleeping like stone, my daughter
I hear god whisper through your rocky ribcage
Cradled in earth, you now speak to me
Of being too holy for this place
Author notes
This petrified stone fetus was found in South America. It is currently on display in Berlin.

I have a saced stone that the earth gave me. I cracked a rock open and in it is a dionsaur period fetus. I have had to guard it carefully and do not keep it with me but leave it with a sacred person for safe keeping. I ahve been offered great deals of money for it, but it was a gift from the earth for some reason and I hold it very sacred. This poem speaks to the holiness of that stone child in Berlin's possession. And, of course, of sorrow of a grieving mother.

I was asked to speak at a memorial for a friend's baby girl. I ahve always believed that they are taken back so they would not meet, perhaps, something worse than death. I do beleive it is because they are too holy for this world.
