The sun shining overhead
is blocked out by the smoke
and those innocent ones who need to breathe
can only mearly choke
Dark pavement made darker still
by gunpowder mixing with blood
pale faces twisted in horror
as they met the loaded gun
Men dressed in colors
Of the jungles in the south
No one seems to hear
the cry from the mother's mouth
Children lost in this time
More dead than before
As people pay the price
for this precious art of war

I love the rhyming in this piece, it's very well done. Though the picture you paint is one of horror you've done an excellent job with it. Thank you for your entry.

I like this one, too. It is great, it reminds me of a book I read and loved. It's by my favorite author. The book is Hawksong by Amelia Atwater-Rhodes. It's the first book in a little series of books. Check it out.

Opening verse is brilliant and led me right into the heart of the write. Imagery creates a very vivid picture of war and all it's atrocities...well done ...mal
