she is tough
hard protective tatooed shell
but it just looks that way
for safety
really she is soft
and usually quite shy
she is sometimes even scared
maybe alittle nervous
she tries to be strong
for her family, kids, friends
she tries to hang on
to what is left of her sanity
she delights in small wonders
she loves to laugh and smile
she sees through rosy shades
and rarely looks down
she fights for the bright side
and what is right and true
she enjoys making others
just as happy too
she is also sometimes sad
depressed and scared
the world is so big and scary
so much pain, loneliness and suffering out there
she watches the stars and moon at night
she loves the sunrise and sunset from the shore
she dreams of the frozen mountain tops
and the dark bottom of the oceans
she rides motorcycles to feel the wind
she paintballs to feel the rush
she reads to learn all she can
and writes to cleanse her mind
she may have little self esteem
but she tries to build more each day
sometimes she gets knocked to the ground
but she's not one to lay there
she's a worker, a goffer, a taste-tester
she's a taxi driver, chef, doctor, nurse,
housekeeper, drycleaner, maid, yardworker,
zookeeper, prison warden, and lover
in fact there's very little she can't do
if something has to be done then it has to
be done and it just seems like she is the
one who will make sure it gets done
she's a lady and she's a wild and crazy
monkey woman, she's a singer, dancer, and
a make-up artist, she's a song-writer,
costume designer, and event planner
I am glad that SHE is ME.

She sounds like a really wonderful and happy person.
Which is oddly different than most of the entries in this contest... which tended to dwell on the negative. It is really refreshing to read of someone who puts a nice spin on themselves. It sounds like someone everyone would love to be around.
A beautiful poem which describes a wonderful person.

thank you
I just immediately jotted my thoughts down - with no reflection time and allowed myself no changes. My daughter also entered giftedpsychosis and she got the front page/spotlight whatever. Thanks for the opportunity to enter. Great contest. And I bet you really had your hands full - the entries I read were all wonderful.... I do not know how you actually make choices.
Thank you for your kind words. It's nice to think that I put a 'nice spin on' myself .... that makes me feel good.

YOU SHOULD HAVE RHYMED!!!
Just kidding... ♥ U Mom. I think you did a great job. And many people have read this. I just don't like to comment because, well, you're my mother and I don't really know what to say.?. ☻! But you did a great job and you shouldn't worry about other people's comments.!!.
I'll see you later ☼

Honesty In Bloom!
We are about the same age, well I'm a liitle older.
I loved this poem! It was almost an essay of the real you. You really opened yourself up and let the reader get a good look inside your life. You seem like a great mom and a sweet lady!
Good Write!!!
