The Cat's Meow - Gold

Missing image

Three sisters, sit on a wall,
One of the sisters had a great fall
All the Moons phases and tear-streaked faces
Could not put us back in those high-hoped places

Fur-fraught sister of our nights
here on this scribbled screen.  I love your howl.
How easily it is to make a song of this
hormoned screech of need and plead
that bled from the head of a thousand
dead soldiers, trying to slay our dragons
that can’t be killed.

High on the fiddle and diddle of moon
The Blue Boy jumps and none too soon
And the wish, oh, the wish to nestle and spoon

Fairy me a tale, sister.  Make it have a happy ending
for I am tired of being Gretel’s gingerbread breast
and no gold armor can glint in this shadow.

George in his pudding and Jim in his sauce;
Five and twenty love songs sung out of lust;
Skip-roping chant and teddy bears
never had such silken reality as this

I will be the witch who watches the pot.
You be the step-mother who forgives herself.
And, you, brother, can be the reason we purr.

    This has to be one of the most amazing stanzas, one of the most incredibly original poems I've ever had the pleasure of reading. I hope you feature it soon...it's a shame no one else has commented on it. Possibly 'cause ya post so many at once, no one had a chance to see it. I love your "take" on the picture & the contest theme. I love how deeply you look into my eyes, my heart, even from this distance...really looking, like you think you might find something in there that no one else bothered to even hope for. "Fairy me a tale, sister. Make it have a happy ending"...Ohhh, yes...please do so...Thank you for entering my contest...I was quite pleased to see you had...You DO make me feel better, all the time...Be well, Poet... Wanda

      Aw, but I can always count on you adn those who go to my page to check what I have done. I never expect people to read all my flurry of feelings, but am grateful when someone does it and it touches some truth in them. Pay It forward is such an awesome concept and one that I hope keeps going for a long time.
