Eternal Voices

(Desperation)
I awoke to a shattered reality,
my hope frozen into finality.
No fountain of dreams, my well ran dry ,
emotions wasting, withered, they die.
Am I alive inside this great wall?
Or in limbo awaiting a final free fall?
Where is the light shining from inside?
Why in darkness do I choose to hide?
Suffocation in the extreme,
this is my life, not just a dream.
I am searching the great divide,
for comfort and clarity, a way to survive...

(Hope)
Such beauty I see wearing a sad mask,
could this be the one of my vision I ask.
A deluge of caring, feel my cleansing rain,
powerful and healing, erasing your pain.
Such a great love hiding in deep sorrow,
together emerging from where you now wallow.
Dare you journey to a far better place?
A great light shines from your beautiful face.
Radiating hope, cutting through fear,
touched by your eyes, welling in tears.
A destined meeting in time and space?
Questions fleeting, a mind at race.

(Desperation)
Pain has contorted the face that you see,
wanting and needing to be set free.
Free from these shackles that forever bind,
the scars on my eyes render me blind.
You speak of hope, tiniest of flames,
but you do nothing to silence these pains.
Show me the future, whisper me of peace,
accompany me to my sweet release.
Then I will believe in you once more,
until then I will simply lock the door.
Leaving my conscious totally alone,
to bear the scars upon matter and bone...

(Hope)
Dreams that are buried like a chest in the sea,
perhaps together we could find the key?
I am strong enough to break through steel,
given the time, I have power to heal.
I speak of nothing more than a chance,
I give no promises of song or dance.
Yet I will accept you just as you are,
walk by your side, down the road ever far.
I only ask you believe just enough,
take a chance, let me in, I know it's tough.
Hard to see when you're so alone,
In my arms, you will find a welcoming home.

(Desperation)
Such promises Hope, I've heard them before,
Each and every time you arrive at my door.
I trust and I wait, all to no avail,
for the light of hope is silent and pale.
You ask me to trust, to wait patiently,
but the pain inside has taken control of me.
I try to reach out to just accept your hand,
but hope keeps slipping away like time's sand.
So tell me dear Hope what can I do,
to move forward and let your light shine through?
Is there a path that I need to take?
So the sun may shine again when I wake.

(Hope)
Heard them before and you may yet again,
I have delivered many from such great pain.
The only friend that so many have,
I comfort their fears, soothe like a salve.
Correct you are, it takes faith and belief,
I know that it's hard, to see through the grief.
I will walk with you, place your hand in mine,
slipping at points, but with you through time.
You must make a choice, you can take my path,
will it be worth it? You do the math.
The choice is yours to take if you may,
feel my love shining on you everyday.

Desperation turns and silently opens the door,
allowing hope to enter once more.
And with all that is held within, she prays,
that hope will bring forth, much better days!

Beautiful and truly uplifting. The dialogue perfectly explored the struggle we find within ourselves. May the door be always open, and the threshhold continually crossed.

Wonderful write. Worthy of all the acclamation.

Oh I love the way you wrote this from both voices, such a very effective of writing this. It's a tribute to the human spirit that mostly we re able to see past the desolation and let hope's light in. Of course this doesn't always happen bbut this piece is one many should read.
