and said "I have a message for you".
I had no knowledge of this woman and didn't
quite know what to do.
She said she kept having feelings that she
should talk to me face to face.
Curious to know what the hell she was talking
about, I told her how to get to my place.
My father and oldest brother were there when
this woman arrived at my door.
Neither of them knew her either, but we were
about to find out exactly what she was there for.
The four of us talked for four hours, I laughed
and of course I cried.
Because you see, many years before that night,
my father and brother had died.
Never in my life had I had anything like that
ever happen to me.
A real life "Medium" in my home and my crossed
over loved ones she could hear and see.
No longer a part of this world, but that never
stopped their love from coming through.
It meant so much to me when Misty said
"Their both so very proud of you"!
She told me that they are always with me and
they watch over me while I sleep.
Although they are on the "Other-side" now,
the love we have, we'll forever keep.
She told me of each of their separate passings
and every word she spoke was absolutely true.
I am now filled with doubtless love whenever
a stranger says "I have a message for you".
Author notes
Opt. 5
My brother died Christmas day of 1977 and my father died September 5th of 1996. I had this actual reading in my home on April 22, 2006 (one day after
my father's birthday). I love you both and miss you terribly.
My new friend Misty didn't charge me one dime for the four hours she spent with me talking to my family members that I had lost so many years ago. When I told her I appreciated everything she did and wished there was some way to repay her, she said "The look on your face after talking to your loved ones is all that I need". I can't thank her enough for all that she did for me that night.

Great
I don't know if I believe in the whole "medium" thing, but whatever happened to you, seemed to have helped you a lot. Great poem, and I love the last two lines. Great ending!

Not Right For Me
I see this is quite a moment...an extraordinary one at that, but I was looking more for a romantic or happiness/friendship type poem. Your poem describing the loss of loved ones is not exactly heart-warming. I understand that this woman claims to have contact with your loved ones which makes you happy, but it's just not what I was hoping for in this contest. Do not give up on your poem, it is really great, just not for me at this time. Thanks for entering however. Sorry if you're disappointed. Best wishes

wow very cool. I like the points you used and the things you brought out. the rhyme sounds slightly forced though and the way you rhymed screwed with the spacing and made it harder to read I think. thanks for the entry

wow...not something I was expecting to read...and I mean that in a good way because I liked it...best of luck in the contest =]

A rather different take on the ghost story option that I was expecting but a very interesting read nonetheless. Thank you for entering and good luck to you.

This poem gave me chills! I loved the fact she did not charge you a dime because it is the ones that charge 100s of dollars an hour I don't trust. Wow, this was such an amazing story! It was touching this happened a day after your father's birthday.
I am glad they are proud of you and watch over you; they obviously still love you. Thank you for sharing this story with me; thank you for entering my contest.

This was really nice to read and a beautiful heartwarming piece of writing.
Personally I could never go and have a reading done as I am scared to hear what they may say... but I am glad your reading went well and you heard things that makes you so happy.
Thankyou for sharing...solar
