Last Sunrise

Wake up, Sun,
It's morning now.
The world still sleeps
Under a cold blanket
That glitters like fallen stars
That will melt
At your tender kiss.

Wake up, Sun,
It's morning now.
In your last greeting
The birds have left us
To wake in silence.
We need your light
Upon our eyes.

Wake up, Sun,
It's morning now.
Rise above the shadows
Tall and silent
And paint a golden lining
Behind that ebony cloud.

Good morning, Sun.

I've been waiting for you.

WEIRD STORY
I was sitting in my room last night, thinking about how I haven't felt inspired lately and I was wishing... I maybe even prayed for... some sort of inspiration. AND THEN GUESS WHAT?? Today in second period My spanish teacher made us write poems about photos we brought in. And I of course went crazy with it and wrote this. I may post the spanish later...
Anyway, the photo is of a sunrise landscape that I took on New Year's Eve morning. Hence the title.

Please tell me what you think

yeah i thanked Senora as soon as class got over. it was funny. When she told us to write I was like "no fair i don't get inspired on command" and then when she told us to stop i said "NO FAIR i'm on a roll!!!"
      Thanks for commenting

This poem is quite good. I thought I read it before..but it's good. Quite optimistic.

Isn't it weird how sometimes you just start writing something that you THINK has no deeper meaning, and then, once you finish, it suddenly does???? yeah. that happened. Glad you like it
      i hope i didn't accidentally steal someone's poem...
