Leonids in a Misty Lake (Kyrielle)

The beauty of a tranquil night,
a dream that will keep you awake.
The moon on heaven shine alight,
leonids in a misty lake.

Fragments of a planet apiece,
like pieces of a heart in ache.
In such a place I feel at peace,
leonids in a misty lake.

Expect that it won't happen soon,
a trip around the sun they take.
It happens once in a blue moon,
leonids in a misty lake.

Author notes

I was searching for images on google, with themes like mist, moon, mystic, moonlight, etc. (for my friend misticmoonlite), and found this wonderful picture above. It is taken as the leonids pass the moon, and you can even see reflection of the leonids in the lake. This image the passing of the "leo", lionslove, and the "mist", misticmoonlite, hanging in there, fighting for her life in the hospital.

The resulting poem did however turn out to be about the leonids in a misty lake... Hope you enjoy it though.

    Excellent

This is just beautiful and your references to the leonids makes me smile. One of the best meteor showers of the season each year. Well at least for a little while. very very nice. Beautifully visual. Would love to see the image you found though. Glad to see an award on this delightful piece. Kyrielle is one of my favorite forms..... ~Pamela

    Opinion

Poetry should be seen as read in such a manner, that its reader cannot help but to be engulf- enfused with the very words or lines that have somehow stick out and therefore stamped into memory. The images for this is as if you are relaying a story of some kind about this body of water and the 'individual' about it.

I am not entirely sure if this is positive or negative comment, it is kind of a neutral 'opinion'. Not that it is anything wrong with neutral opinion, but I don't get the feeling if you liked it or not. Thanks for your opinion though, I appreciate it! Jim

      Well,

there WAS a picture there, but as my gold membership wore off, it is no longer shown. As soon as I upgrade my membership, it will reappear. I think however that the poem itself paints the picture in your mind, can you see it? Thanks for the comment, and the applause! Jim

for your wonderful comment, and your heartwarming applauses. They say a good poem paint a picture in the readers mind, and alas, as my gold membership ended, they took away the picture that I had at the top. You can still imagine the picture though... right? Jim

      Thank you,

I've entered the poem into your contest now. I don't care about any trophy, though I would be happy if I got one. My reward is that you may put this in the portfolio of poems for Linda, so she may read it when she gets better. What is the latest news? I am so worried for her... Jim

      Thanks Gary,

I noticed aswell that as I reread my poem, it was deeper than I first attempted it. Sometimes I feel I should analyze my own poems, maybe I could get some answers... Thanks for the comment, and the applauses, it means a lot to me. Thank you, my friend! Jim

      Hi, Joyce!

Though the poem did not come out as a poem about Linda, I guess it still turned out as a tribute, both to her, and to Tim. I was as usual unsure about the quality, but you have assured me that I managed to make yet another good poem. Thank you a million for your wonderful comment, the standing ovation, and the three applauses! You are too kind! Hugs to you and your husband. Love from your bro, your sis-in-law, and your nephew. Jim

    Beauty of Nature

It's a beautiful poem you have penned my dear. You have indeed captured the beauty of the shinning moon through the night & it's definitely a place where we can find peace and hope this peace stays on earth through eternity. Very nicely written poem with nice flow and tone of serenity of mother nature is well expressed.
