On a distant shore

Someplace
On a distant shore,
Faraway
Someone cries out.

Beckoning
Away, far too empty,
Alone
“Where are you!?”

“Right here
On a distant shore, Away, far too empty
So Alone
And wondering who you might be.”

    Poor Lonely Souls

I love poems like this one. I like the idea of someone who's lonely and void of anyone like him, but there's someone else exactly like him with the same predicament. If the two would find each other, the problem would end. The poem could be understood as a love poem, but also as other things. Sometimes I have a longing for the friends I grew up with who live in another state. This poem reminds me of them, as well. I suppose I love my friends, but I don't think that's quite the same type of love...

    Awesome

Reminds me of the time I was on a beach in Northern Bay ,NL when one night when it was pitch black out and I climbed out of my tent and saw the moon in a way I had never seen it before, it was so blue and it lit up the ocean like the sun.

The message i hear tells me no matter what we are never truly alone on the opposite side of the world someone ponders the same feeling....This a simple poem but works with a powerful punch .You have not overworked you words or cluttered them with those annoying little ones...a very well crafted poem. Thank you for the pleasure of the read.

I liked this. The idea that you're never alone - always seems there's someone out there feeling the same feelings and doing the same actions you are ... wondering where that someone is so they can console each other good write

Thank-you for the comment, yeah this poem reflects that longing to connect to the person who will understand you and is longing to find someone just like you, but is so far away.

This poem is so free spirited and gentle like the waves that touch both shores. I love the gentle longing in this poem and the deep meaning here

From your work I've read so far this one has stood out. Partially because I love free verse, but mainly because you used it so affectively. It says a lot without being too verbose. Also, the repetition was used well, something hard to pull off.
