The Cliff

Love is a ravine,
Deeper than my soul.
Deeper than my heart,
And bigger than us both.

Jagged as the pointed rocks,
Looking over the sea.
Many have fallen,
While they wandered there;
Together, but alone;
In the bitter sea-cold air.

I know we've found ourselves,
Standing on the edge;
When the sea below appears
  To be the perfect end.

But, Please, Listen carefully!
And listen to the cries from the deep.
I know the ocean is beautiful,
But not nearly as much;
  As you and me.

Author notes

Option 1. This is a poem from myself to my girlfriend. The "you" is her. I wrote this a short while ago, and I feel the cliff is like one of those beautiful ones you see in movies overlooking the ocean. I feel that many couples walk to it and just jump off and lose their relationship, and though we've come so close to the edge we're still holding on to each other.
