The cold chains that bind me
Are tearing up my skin
Hanging against the prison wall
Never to see light again
Wrapped around my wrists
Was a black bulky chain
And sometimes around my neck
Just to put me in pain
The water dripping on my face
This is my one true fate
I look forward facing imprisonment
Kindness being the thing I hate
The ice is like a bind
That keeps me on the wall
The chains just being there
To keep me from my fall
I will never be free
Walking the earth again
The prison walls that surround me
Darkness my only friend
My body’s limp and cold
Now laying on the floor
But the chains are still binding me
Keeping me inside the door
My eyes as cold as ice
My skin as cold as snow
I’ve been stuck here for many days
Having no where to go
As the seasons kept on changing
My body fell apart
My head was always thinking
And the darkness filled my heart
My wrist were red from chains
My ankles white with ice
My neck was blue from cold
And my life was paying the price
I started walking the floor
My heart beating like a drum
I silently watch the world go by
Dreading the next day to come
And then some years later
I was over by the door
I had lost every inch of hope
And was sitting on the floor
I was such a lost cause
And had tremendous inner strife
I was always thinking, “Wait and live
Or end my pathetic life”
As weeks turned to months
And months turned to years
I lost all my courage
And gained too many fears
The chains that still bounded me
Were no longer tight and cold
I now had gotten used to them
So they were no longer a fatal hold
And then the door had opened
As someone set me free
The binds had been released
And the chains taken off of me
It was fifteen years ago today
And that is how it went
I wrote this poem and it’s titled
“The Story of My Imprisonment”

Hmmmmmmmm, Very well done, but was it an actual imprisonment or were they figurative chains of depression that bound you? Since your Author notes mentioned depression I figure that is the case...Scott

I feel like this is more a story than a journal entry- but then again I'm not you so it's difficult to tell. Either way, sorry for falling off track, the similes and descriptions, relations to cold and ice- all very nicely done. Thank you for your entry.
