Self Chosen

She lies with her heart, pillow soaked, no sweat,
Vomit of life's woes, sinking therein, hair
Soaking, stinking there, self adduced, and yet
          She lies with her heart
Where most lie with their heads, she clambers care
Out of cookie jar, Star of the East yet
Calling, to gamble, peramble, stop, stare
In glee, whatever may be; and yet get
Of her choosing of woes is woe still where
Truth deniability insures: bet
          She lies with her heart.

Author notes

0: A Roundel.

1: "get" - also used in reference to children, as implied of the 'outcomes of one's actions'.

2: PiL - "Badlife". ('This is what you want, this is what you get,...').

Can you, do you, believe it?

whoa i am thinking so many thoughts from this read as the imagery unfolded my head went into a spin in mixed thoughts. I like that in a poem that makes me think. I guess when it comes to the icon of Marilyn Munroe who knows the real truth but she did leave a lot of questions unanswered and a curiosity in her death. I feel your last line sums her up Thank you for the read.

      How one dyes in grace...

You know, I had forgotten how Marilyn Monroe died!!
The subject of the poem is in fact one from mine own life cast in the image (which role she played to the hilt for no little time) of said star, and the analogy chosen of her languid lamentationals.
      Thanks for the reminder.
