You cannot dream to dance upon the night,
When you know of all the coming pain,
A fortune read caused all and fright,
But no fortune was to be a gain.
Such distortion can bring one to tears,
As the world left after this rage.
Man has met his worse fears,
Since the beast has left its cage.
After all that has come and gone,
The silence stretches for miles.
But no fire can be left to burn on,
When happiness never smiles.

When happiness never smiles. That is a terrific line and truly pulls the entire piece together. I usually don't read a lot of dark verse, but his was good. Very good. Ya Got Me A Thinkin' and I Like that. ~Pam
