[ Burned Bridges ]

Burned Bridges

Almost to that point where the flame will kiss the wood
Watch what we once had become ashes where it stood

One word away from disaster’s finalizing goodbye
A simple fight and it’s over. Not one more retry.

A single step made towards the wrong direction
And you can see it burn in my eyes reflection

Another pain, another tear and it will be our last
Left to reminisce upon our blazing past

Bridges aren’t far off from burning to the ground
Smoke and ash will tell the story of what we never found

Yet I know the truth is if they ever were consumed.
I’d swim underneath where they stood to get back to you.

I love this piece, and you have also formatted it really well, just like embers in a dying fire, which relates to the piece.

I love the imagery 'Almost to that point where the flame will kiss the wood' and thole piece was such a perfect illustration of something so beautiful and deep dying, just like a dying fire and the idea of something really hot and intense turning to ashes in front of your eyes 'Left to reminisce upon our blazing past' was emotively described.

The last line was a great way to end it... It is important to not lose hope even when love is near lost... Because true love is a flame that never dies.
