What must I do to get over you
To hold you emotionless, no matter what we do
I morn to the thought that I’m alone
All alone in this world, with a chronic tear
Life is a lesson, and cannot be taught without fear
The fear that burns with every pain we feel
The fear that’s fueled with thoughts of revenge and sorrow
Then at the point of explosion, your voice cuts in
You remind me that everything happens for a reason
And every reason will lead to a different situation
And that situation will end the tears
The tears that over the years have turned into rage
And that rage reminding me why I loved you to begin with
A love that can’t even be stopped with 3000 miles between us
A love deeper then the sky is high
A love more pure then any element known to mankind
A love that even the blind can see, and the deaf can hear
And I know when I have you back within my grasp
You will end every ounce of agony, every bit of rage, and every last tear
As we leave this chapter in life, and continue to the next page
Just know I will love you beyond our dying days

There’s a lot of movement and a variety of emotion in the poem...it moves from a “chronic tear” (very nice touch there) through fear, rage, distance to the love that is endless and lasting. I would have preferred more cleaner line breaks and a more consistent rhyme pattern, but there is also a very endearing quality about this poem – it feels sincere and written from the heart. And yes, I too know the agonies of a long-distance relationship, but when the love is “endless” it can be stretched to span oceans!
Thank you for this entry and good luck in the contest!
