There is gathering in the glen,
a swarm over the blossoms,
your friendship is a breath
on the frosted window
your words, the scrambling chicks
to the wing of a mother
From something greater than we
comes the phrases that raise
the Lazarus linen sheets
with words and images
Swift to it, my sister,
hover over the sweetest rose
move an embryonic need
to be a part of the bud’s creation
Hurry, brother, lift us
from a harrowed field
and save us from stubbled promises
that will be plowed under.
Creator, take these bouquets we offer
recognize that these are all the gifts
we can return to you for leading us
directly into the path where we could meet
and hold each other’s hearts.

Just as he intended us to do Babe! You got it! All over you as a matter of fact! This is a fantastic piece. Every verse riviting by talented nature of the author. But I especially loved the Lazarus versed reference.~~Suseann P.S. We'll fly as far as inspiration's breezes take us.

Carol . . . what a wonderous unification put forth in these words. Yes, "where we could meet and hold each other's hearts.

there are so many of us that have moved beyond simply reading each other's work, as you know. The camaraderie here has taken us beyond the flat face of a screen. It is really something when you pray for someone you have never held.

This is so beautiful...this gentle song of soul you've sketched here with the soft-chalk of your heart. How fortunate I am to be in this circle of arms, my friend. This is an entire piece of beauty, but the one line that really made itself in my eyes is this one "your words, the scrambling chicks to the wing of a mother"....oooh, as a supervisor of social work I always tell my workers that a child that has been abused needs a "mother-hen" to gather him or her exactly the way you've written it here. Thank you for gathering me with your wings, your shawl and your heart. What a joy and a comfort to share in your warmth... simply beautiful.

You and I have done similar work, my friend. No wonder it extends to AP where we gather. I thank you for your friendship.

Sighhh...What a marvelous, awe~inspiring piece, my Sister...Indeed, there are those of us here whose fingers nearly touch, whose souls embrace each other from afar...& it soothes me to come into these hallowed halls, where Love sings so sweetly...Good luck in the contest, my dear Friend...Thank you for the infinite hugs...

Ahhh, my Sister...you already do...I can feel its woolen warmth around my aching heart...I can hear your murmured words of comfort that you whisper so gently & so well...I love this poem, Carol...Congratulations on its receiving honorable mention, my dear Friend...When two or more gather in His name, the music is mighty & profound as we rhythm our way into the Light...

This picture was taken at the Canadian Poetry Association yearly festival where I was asked to do a Talking Circle. At the end, as we went around the cirlce, I was impressed to give the ancestral shawl hug which is symbolic of having all your ancestors embrace you under the shawl. It is moving for the shawl holder and the participants.
