Fragrance of life

In the pocket
a piece of silk is keeping
a collection of words from flying in vain,
protecting all in the nest of her heart
plunging them into the warm ocean of salt
while desert's wind is playing
with the edges of memories.

With the crawling orange shadows
a last tear touched the soil
piercing the ground.

A new rose start to sing
to the rhythm of sun beams
calling the birds...

She smiled again
and the flower gave her
the fragrance of life.

this is truly elegant in presentation and meter
just as our friend Nicci is, I'm certain she will find
    this a treasure when read.

Sonja...now I can see who wrote this beauty! Congratulations, my friend, on an exquisite write for our sweet Nicolette. This rendering is stunning. Wonderful language, well chosen words, lots of vivid images. One could almost taste the salt air, and feel the warm breezes! I adore the last few lines, though. GTThey have to be my favs, and wrap it all up so very eloquently. Thanks again, my friend, for this wonderful offering!

    Such a fragrance here...

    Sonja...

A good friend said to me the other day “Nicolette, you’re a poet, but when something or someone moves you deeply you never know what to say”. That is how I feel right now...

Such a sachet of fragrance you’ve given me for my birthday, Sonja. Your collection of words is so beautiful, so filled with the colours, the warmth and the scents of your loving heart. Your words flew across the oceans to place such a big smile in my eyes and my heart. I love the personal touches you’ve added – thank you for seeing from afar. I’m so honoured to be on the receiving end of such a flower of beauty, light, hope and fragrance. I look up to the sun and see my name written on the wings of dragons and butterflies, on the petals of flowers, in the glimmer of stars. And by writing my name there, you have written your own name there too.

Thank you, dear Sonja, for the beauty, warmth, generosity and light of your heart. Perhaps to say that I have “water-stars” in my eyes is the only way I can really express myself....

Your friend said true...and mine said - never give up. I am glad that you like it. Now, wipe your water-stars with rose petals and enjoy a new fragrance of life.

sounds almost mystical, creativity and imagination chasing each other between the rows failing to decide who will win. and the winner is... the reader. beautiful poetry, sonja.
