one more snowflake, momma
and it tasted as centuries
blindfolded by bliss
a strategy behind, let’s face the wonders of homelessness this year:
i’ll make you a comfortable word bed to lie in
so we can forget
forgive the reds of departure
with higher flight and a vase held tight against chests
stuffed clouds will keep us company
in midwinter, midsoul of the wanderer through ashes
“they fall upwards these days,” we’ll realize suddenly
and then become as little as humble cocoons to this universe become butterflies
then we will be
just another white, my child
and it tasted as centuries
blindfolded by bliss
a strategy behind, let’s face the wonders of homelessness this year:
i’ll make you a comfortable word bed to lie in
so we can forget
forgive the reds of departure
with higher flight and a vase held tight against chests
stuffed clouds will keep us company
in midwinter, midsoul of the wanderer through ashes
“they fall upwards these days,” we’ll realize suddenly
and then become as little as humble cocoons to this universe become butterflies
then we will be
just another white, my child

just for the optimism and renewal...
and even though it is a bit early
Happy birthday, Nicolette! May you see white rather than feel cold. Best wishes.

White and warm beauty...
Diana....
A good friend said to me the other day “Nicolette, you’re a poet, but when something or someone moves you deeply you never know what to say”. That is how I feel right now...
When I read this beautiful and moving poem, I do see white...white snowflakes, white butterflies, white flowers (my favourite)...I so love this “theory of white”...the white of innocence, of birth and hope. You take my “snow” and turn it into warmth and light, and write the reds away. I so love this poem, Diana – truly one of my favourite poems by you. Thank you for lifting up my heart with this birthday poem and for wonderful personal touches you’ve added, especially the “fall upwards these days”. Time we spend some time on yahoo again! I look up to the sun and see my name written on the wings of dragons and butterflies, on the petals of flowers, in the glimmer of stars. And by writing my name there, you have written your own name there too.
Thank you, dear friend for the beauty, warmth and generosity of your heart. Perhaps to say that I have “water-stars” in my eyes is the only way I can really express myself....

Thanks a lot for your thoughts, Nicolette. Indeed you don't know what to say at first when you are impressed, but after some thought I'd say you're better than many others at expressing how you feel. I'm very glad you like this, it's much more than winning a trophy or whatever. Thanks for the inspiration too
