I don't imagine that I'll ever get over this;
I don't imagine I could ever get away from this.
Cause I cannot seem to function here
when you're not around -
you are the words of all the sentences
that I never found,
and I really don't know
if I'll ever get over it.
And if it's somebody's fault
it is entirely mine.
I should have passed you by,
I never should have opened my eyes.
And when it all comes down
it won't surprise me to find
that I never even crossed your mind.
You are the wonder of my summer,
are the step in my spring.
You are the winter and your splendor
covers everything.
And the seasons fall to pieces here
when you're not around,
you are the words of all the sentences
that I never found,
and I really don't know
if you ever even knew a thing.
(Chorus)
Hope resides;
days grow long -
find your side
and drift along.
I don't imagine that I'll ever get over this;
I don't imagine that I'll ever get over this.
(Chorus)
I don't imagine I could ever get away from this.
Cause I cannot seem to function here
when you're not around -
you are the words of all the sentences
that I never found,
and I really don't know
if I'll ever get over it.
And if it's somebody's fault
it is entirely mine.
I should have passed you by,
I never should have opened my eyes.
And when it all comes down
it won't surprise me to find
that I never even crossed your mind.
You are the wonder of my summer,
are the step in my spring.
You are the winter and your splendor
covers everything.
And the seasons fall to pieces here
when you're not around,
you are the words of all the sentences
that I never found,
and I really don't know
if you ever even knew a thing.
(Chorus)
Hope resides;

and drift along.
I don't imagine that I'll ever get over this;
I don't imagine that I'll ever get over this.
(Chorus)

It's a ballad. On paper it might not be particularly impressive, but I was happy with the result as a song.

I know a thousand people who will never love this song more than I do.

Hello, old Friend. How have you been lately? I'm listening to your song "Drift" and am quite taken aback by its melancholy loveliness. How beautifully your words and melodies soar. It has been some time since we last spoke, but I think of you constantly and hope your life is going well. Be well and take care. I hope to hear from you.
Your Friend, Christopher (Gegishov)

No song is ever particularly impressive on paper, but I could relate to every word here. And the music really does do it justice. Very nice.
God bless,
Rose

Wow Cor, this is beautiful. And i can relate to this on every single level. The second verse hit hard, and the piece as a whole reminds me of myself. In short, you took every thought that's crossed my mind the past month and wrote it out for everyone to see.
I needed this
Thank you.

as a song, it is one of my favorites from you. you know that. ;-)

-
ah, on paper it might not be that good? well it isn't a sonnet, but the imagery and word use... not to mention style of your sentence... all great. but the best line i thought was you are the words of all the sentences that I never found. bravo, cor.

This is very nice. I am sure that it is much better with the music, but I have a hard time downloading ANYTHING.
It is good to see you active again. If I ever get the song loaded, I will listen to it. It was also nice to put a face to the name. My Space is good for something after all. (Look me up sometime. I am not that hard to find.)
Well wishes in the contest.
Thank you for sharing.

Ok the mere written word on the page does not do this work any justice at all,although on saying that it does stand on its own, but to fully appreciate it I had to click on the link and hear for myself, what a joy it was, a real pleasure for the listener, you have a soulful voice ,that compliments the skillfully written lyrics.

Oh wow Corey! I just listened to it on Jessi's laptop and it is just perfect!

-
That is so true. On paper, most of the songs aren't nearly as impressive. I have to say though that this one I could almost feel the music when I read it. I haven't listened to any of the songs yet. Can't wait.
-
