Alone and sad on the Eve of a New Year,
finding solace in liquor and beer.
But, wait! Behold a new man sits alone,
sitting on a bar stool like a throne.
On unsteady legs I approach,
quietly asking if he perhaps has a roach.
We walk to his car,
which is not very far.
Sitting in his passenger seat,
I inhale the fumes of the treat.
We talk as we smoke,
coming up with queer jokes.
Midnight draws near,
but I have no fear.
For I know that I will get a kiss,
and it will bring me bliss.
The kiss does not come,
and I begin to feel very numb.
I find my way home and lay on my bed,
thinking of what lies ahead.
I recieve a call from a sister,
making me feel as if I had been caught up in a twister.
The boy I still love wishes to talk,
this news makes my knees so weak I can barely walk.
A happy start to a new year,
for this news gives me cheer!
Author notes
This is about what happened to me on New Year's Eve. No joke. It's kinda not ment for younger people, seeing as how it has things in it that they should not be reading about.

good write
good write and i am glad that it turned out to be a good new year for you ,please remember though that getting into strangers cars is not a good idea, there are many good people but there are also those that are cruel, evil and not to be trusted,we had five young women murdered over the holliday.they were also in a stangers car.please be carefull, these were suposedly women of loose morals but by getting in with a stanger you could have been mistaken for the same by a twisted mind.i am so happy that you got home safely.good luck in the contest

Life is for finding our way...
and this poem is such a fine illustration of that very thing... hopes dashed and yet reborn! Fine poem, here!
