They call me
Gorgeous
This I do not understand.
"A beautiful body and eyes to die for"
They tell me when they see me standing there.
I hide myself beneath these clothes
In hope that they'll only forget.
I put this liner on thick,
And die my hair dark.
In hope that they won't see what they call beauty.
One day I break down
And put on all the pretty things I own.
I walk out to the party
And all eyes are on me
Hungry for the words they cannot find.
The whole night they compliment
The clothing that I had chosen.
But the whole night I'm looking at the other girls
Now we look the same.
Am I pretty in your eyes now?
Do I look like them yet?
I wonder
How can they do this to me?
I wonder
What they're really thinking.
Am I hiding under these clothes to?
Is my pretty blue eye shadow smearing down my cheeks?
Am I another mistake to them?
To you?
They all start to talk at once
And I'm left with a bottle of confusion
Just barely gripping it as I hold on.
I walk back home at the end of the night
I take off everything and look in the mirror.
To myself I wonder if they were right
I'm still staring at myself now
Seeing scars and bruises line my legs.
I look up and see the face that they do not.
No make-up covering this skin
No clothes to cover this sin.
I stand under the water of this shower
I wash my hair and body as well.
I smell like a flower
But I will never tell.
I climb into bed without getting dressed
Or even drying off
I throw the covers over my head
And fall asleep to the nonsence that they've said.
They call me
Gorgeous

I'm glad i allowed prewrites now!
This was a truly amazing piece of poetry that i really enjoyed. I love that you've used propor punctuation and it is simply breathtaking how you've captured the scene. I particularly liked
'I look up and see the face that they do not.
No make-up covering this skin
No clothes to cover this sin.'
Well done and best of luck in my competition. -
Jess
Jessi you are beautiful because of who you are. Clothes, the make-up, and even the scars dont make who you are. Its like I've always thought, Beauty comes from skin deep and what makes you who you are is your attitud towards life. Be happy and do what makes you happy.
Much Love,
~*Jess*~
