Ritual -silver

Missing image
I allow a chunk of dry hair
to fall into the fire as a shadow
slips over the soles of my feet
to kiss the lamplight and make it his
while I, shrouded in black,
step away to lick a silver blade
that will take the last finger joint.
After the fire feasts on it,
I will take the last ash to make clay
to block tears that might cut
a new course down my cheeks.

    Great stuff...good luck

Thank you, Zayra. If our youth only understood what what they do symbolizes so much that was so sacred.

What a powerful penning, my Friend...We all have our own personal rituals for dealing with grief...even if the severing is only emotional, rather than actually being physical...Good luck in the contest, Sweetie... Wanda
