The Choice to Maybe Grow Up

When you become a man
can you stil be a boy
Can hanging wih friends
and responsibilities be balanced
Is it possible to have a forty hour work week
and still wake up for Saturday morning cartoons
Does the step into manhood do something
to the body, the mind, the soul
that cannot be turned back
Something that tells us that
the decisions been made
the envelopes been sealed
and you must stick with it to the bitter end
if for no other reason than you have to
But you mustn't give in
for you can still hold on
to at least pieces of your youth
Enough to keep your heart young
if you just hold on tight
and never let go
Think of a happy thought
add a bit of pixie dust
and your off to where boys never grow old
and play games of hide and seek forever
And back again in time to catch your Sunday night football
and work on Monday morning
