I sit and think of you,
so very often.
My first love,
My truest friend.
We would sit for hours,
and talk on the phone,
Go for long walks,
under the moon.
You showered me with love,
and with gifts.
You completed my teenage years,
fulfilling every wish.
But time went on,
and we grew apart.
Those times are gone,
a memory, not far from my heart.
Both married now,
and happy, I suppose.
I have never forgotten,
the lesson you taught.
You taught me to love,
completely with my heart and soul.
You taught me about trust,
Things aren't always what they seem.
My love for you,
will stay with me forever.
Yes,
even eight years later.

Excellent
this makes me sad too, it's wonderfully written and that's the problem! the emotions leak from the screen and. i remember my first love quite well. he was at once everything...and not much of anything. but at the time, he meant the whole world. no, the whole goddamn universe!
your words hit homerun with me, and made me think back to those times i had with my ex -before we drifted apart. makes my heart ache...even tho i have a new boyfriend who's much more.
still first love, no matter how dumb the guy was, sticks with you and lasts for a long time after. he's defenitly not worth my current boyfriend but still...the times we had! and it was a whole new experience, "going out". he taught me things lots never could have.
thanks for sharing your poem- brings back a flow of memories! good luck for the contest.
keep penning stuff! this made a great read -congrats.

Hi and thanks for entering my contest. I just thought Id tell you what I thought of your poem. I was very impressed when I read it I must say. I can relate to a lot of it. I remember my first love. We went out for a while and then he ended up breaking up with me and being a complete sod for the next year or so.
Oh well
I really enjoyed this

Great job!
Your first love is always the hardest to forget. Actually i think, like you said, you will remember your first love even eight years later. Your words are beautiful, and im sure so many people can relate to them. Good job capturing the memory.
