Chaos surrounds me as I stumble through the darkness
Everything I thought I knew no longer exists
And time seems to be standing still
But I am not scared, because you are at my side
Patience and kindness so freely given
Never before have I experienced in this cold world
A soul like yours... and how I adore you
Every thought of time spent, hanging on all that you say
Letting it sear me, precious scars... never to fade
Sharp words cutting flesh spilling forth life... in truth
And you are as clear as crystal
And entity that guides my way
Teaching me not to fear the stones set in my path
That it is not a necessity to stumble about
For I can take flight to rise above them
What cannot be avoided can be overcome
If only faced with conviction and sight of the soul
I feel you in everything that I do, teaching me to teach myself
By far the best gift I have ever received was....
Your gentle urging carrying me through cold nights
And blatant shoves heating me
Pushing me to grasp enough strenth

Yes sometimes "tough love" in conveying the raw truth is called for in supporting a friend in the ways necessary to overcome obstacles. I'm very glad you've found one such friend who is versatile enough to employ such a love in just the right fashion. I love the strength of the whole piece as it is uplifting in itself. Even if it wasn't written to me.
