The Web of Lies

Trying to find the truth
In this web of lies
How can you really know
Who to believe
Who to trust
And who to just let go

Finding bits of truth
In the web of lies
But still you just don't know
Who to believe
Who to trust
Or who to just let go

Maybe the real truth
In a web of lies
When there's really no way to know
There's no one to believe
There's no one to trust
Is to just let everyone go

To tell you the truth
Stuck in this web of lies
Not knowing but some things I know
Who can I believe
Who can I trust
It may be easier to just let go

Author notes

Option 1 ~ quote by Empathic Rose

"Sometimes, the truth is harder to tell than lies.

Sometimes lies seem the best route, away from truth.

But once you lie, you lie to cover up another lie,

then all you are becomes only a lie."

    Good

This is a great poem and I felt the emotions swimming throughout it. The author uses good imagery and maintains a poetic flow through the whole piece. The poem has a message and delivers it well Nice flow of words and a pleasant sounding poem. I enjoyed reading this poem, it rings true and real.

I like this poem. I often feel this way, but, I'm not certain which is the "cliche'" I asked for. Shancy.

Hi Shancy, I just wrote what cliche my poem is based on in the author notes. It wasn't one of the cliches you listed, I used the option of using a different cliche.

I hate webs of lies, we get tangled in them & there so hard to get out. Very relatable piece but it was cliche to me, but I kind of liked it. Thanks for the entry.

    Wow.
    This was awesomely written.
    And it's very true.
You hear stories about how much people lie. And then even your friends tell you that they lied to someone to make them happy, or something along those lines, and then you wonder if they're always truthful to you.
Life is pretty much confusing. And you wrote about it very wonderfully.

Thank you for this nice write!
And good luck in the contest!
