Call me lazy if you want!

Call me lazy, call me sloth if you wish,
But consider my intentions and reasons!

The masters of the word why! That's exactly what we are,
"Why should we bother? It just seems... bizarre!"

Apparently we lord over you thinking we are best,
No, my friends, that's pride- we just want to rest.

You look upon our laziness with heartfelt disgust,
That's fair enough, I suppose- but the sloth don't live by lust.

Gluttony of rest is not an option you can pick,
We wish to simply lie down, not to eat and lick.

If being like us is a sin, but we are quite happy here,
We have no means to envy! That alone must be clear!

If you're not quick to anything, you can't be quick to wrath,
So let me assure you, we're not using that path.

Perhaps our best quality is our absence of greed,
We're happy without any work, nothing else we need.

So maybe you think better of us, now you've read my verse,
Perhpas your opinion of us is in a full reverse.

Author notes

I don't think sloth is good, I just thought this would be interesting.
Can anyone think of a better title? It sounds a little silly, but I just can't think of anything else. My brain's feeling a little bit stupid.

Although I am against total sloth I agree with you here that sloth is one of the lesser sins compared to many i.e. Envy and Wrath, which can cause A LOT of problems. So yeah, I agree. I like the argument you present within these lines. x Empathic x

    I like it!

If you want to change the title maybe it could be sloth and loving or the seduction of salaciousness. I prefer my second choice. It is a wonderful poem but I think the rules said you could only pick one of the sins at a time. The weird thing is you and I kind of have a similar title. I wrote mine purely about sloth. I was thinking of writing about lust but I figured there too many entries about that. Sorry to ramble, but good luck in the contest!
