displaced--

she stirred, the dirt was cold,
her clothes, long since shreds-
missing in action

the icy solid earth chilled more
than the missing heartbeat,
she normally slept beside

sometime, a moment or hours ago,
a young girl was silently whisked
from her side, by her hair,

-tomorrow and the next day
they will all disappear,
dying as lonely statistics,

a government, or lack thereof
will add a tally mark

under the graphic excuse;

'displaced'
__________
too many, and counting.

The poem: The story of a young girl in what is called a 'prison camp', these prison camps are large land areas, usually with no buildings and possibly a few tents, the prisoners are girls aging from infancy to middle-age. In these prisons, girls are raped constantly and beat. If they 'hurt' any of the soldiers they are shot, if a girl tries to defend another girl, they are both shot, if they become pregnant, they are either shot, or allowed to have their baby, if the baby is a boy, it is kept if it is a girl it is usually tossed to a patch of dirt and left to die... However most pregnancies end before they are able to deliver due to starvation, bleeding, and disease.

In this poem, two young girls usually slept back to back, one girl is taken and murdered, but one by one they will all be. According to the Sudan government, they are not dead, or tragedies, they are merely 'displaced'

Excellent way to open people's eyes to the Horrors going on in Darfur. I give you much repect for that. People need to start living in ignorance and do something about it. Luckily, people are starting to inform others about the genocide. Great poem with a good meaning.

By the way, I have a group you might be interisted in joining - "Darfur Awarness". Check it out if you feel like it.

    Great poem.

Why did we go after weapons of mass destruction...

... that did not even exist and our leaders knew that anyhow, when there's a messed up country that is doing this kind of terrible stuff??? You write it so well and I thank you for informing me.

*shrugs* As much as I dislike war, we can not very well pull out now... It has to be controlled, but oh how I wish we could. My boyfriend is volunteering for active duty in Iraq after the new year, and I may very well wring government necks in my dreams...

Your welcome dear, and thank you for commenting. love you -s-

Damn that was fantastic. Seems we are all "in the mood" -
