It smells so fresh and new
I love the country sky...
A spacious country blue~
I love the country,
It's wonderful waterfalls...
I also love the whippoorwill's
Haunting, echoing call~
I love the country flowers;
Colorful, windswept sown
I just love the country...
Natural and homegrown~
I just love the country air;
It smells so fresh and new
I just love the country sky
A spacious country blue~

refreshing..
That's a heart-warming and comforting illustration you have selected to write poetry on.. I am personally not a big fan of the country side, but your poem evokes rather calming images.. =) -
Your poem flows as easy as a warm summer day, and only in the country can nature thrive that way. I chose the country over the city, to look out on a land untouched and pretty. Pretty as your verse.

I really liked the feeling to this, it's really nice, and tranquil, and very relaxing:)
I think it would be nice to live in the country of where I live, cuz then you can see the awesome view of the mountains, but not the ugliness of our town:P lol
i just have one thing to point out, in the last stanza, did you want it to be exactly like the first? cuz if you do, it's missing a word...if not, then that's ok:) it sounds ok both ways, just wondering what you intended

I want to come sit on that porch and just...be...
Looks so tranquil and fills me with a sense of peace...quiet...happiness. I read this and look at the pic and i can smell things baking in the kitchen...kicking back on that porch after a long day...i'm right there in this moment Susan. Thank you for that wonderful feeling!

And I just love this country poem!!!!
Beautiful!!!!! ~Laura -
Simply beautiful, reminds me of the days when I walked the country grounds. I love being in the country and the smell of the country air. There's nothing quite as fresh as the smell of the country just after a rain. **Melody**

Well I'm neither from the American North or south and I don't know the song of the whippoorwill but I do love the country. English, Australian whatever but your spacious country blue Susan I can relate to. Beautiful poem with vivid imagery.

I like the simplicity of this. It reminds me of the country, and the lovely people that I have met there.

I liked it, it was very well written

Susan... you know how to write the kind of poetry that should be on greeting cards... things that make people feel happy when they read them...
You have it down to a science, and sometimes I wonder if there is anything that you can't make beautiful with your words. -
this was a nice and peaceful write.. the country does have great air quality... there are no country sides here in L.A., Ca. only hills and moutains to run to for great quality air.
Yvonne:) -

This is not somekind of poem to incite a Dixieland revival
You and your confederates you could never admit to losing the civil war "The South shall not rise again"
