Look Up

look up, little one
into the rarefied air
on the rocky mountaintop
above the treeline
doing the moonwalk
while signaling Y-M-C-A
with my arms

yes, it's me
trying to tell you
that my stupidity
is not self destructive
and there's no bugs up here

I will not come down for you
or call you to come to me
you must find your own way
I will just send you signals
of love

or call you to come to me
you must find your own way
I will just send you signals
    of love... very good!

You cannot carry another, no matter how much you want to. Even to try is a huge act of conceit. All we can ever do is make silly motions of encouragement and hope we distract them enough to climb.

This is about the teacher and the apprentice. The apprentice sees the teacher doing silly things. Then, the student is angry when the teacher accused the student of being silly. But, there is a difference. The apprentices silliness is self destructive. The teacher waits for the student to climb...
