The Airport Lounge

Royal white shades
in dawn horizons -
the daylight drapery:
with nocturnal stripes

And I,
proud watcher of passengers' zip-zap:
family, lovers, workers
in a 24-hour marathon of air racing

So here I am,
with my luggage of chambre etoffe
in the timeless era of whirling time zones:
tick, tack, tick, tack
across breathing glaciers
  or tropical exotica

waiting to be home. In strapped heels.

Author notes

One of the light-hearted pieces, in celebration of my regular address next year. Try to be concise this time.

Inspired by Debra Weinworth's 'Apprentice to the Flower Poet Z' - this is a must read for EVERY poet!

Interesting how you can show transience in so few words! I like how you juxtapose day and night in the first stanza:

    Royal white shades
    in dawn horizons -
    the daylight drapery:
    with nocturnal stripes

and I have the apprentice to the flower poet z, thanks to you =). Its on my reading list now, right after lolita and frankenstein (I need to stock up on gothic literature, any reccomendations?)
