I Want to Know You More

Lord, I want to know You more
I need to feel close to You
This stormy weather is raging at my door
I know You can see me through

Through the darkness and the pain
Through the long lonely nights
Till the sun shines again
Just make everything alright

I want to know You more, Lord
Surround me with Your Love
So I may feel safe and secure
From the storms that rage above

Quiet my soul within
Teach me to be still
Help me not focus on what has been
But rather on Your Will

I want to know You more
My Savior and my King
My Father and Comforter
The One who knows all things

You know how much I can bare
And everything about me
Truly I know, You do care
Never would You doubt me

Father, I want to know You more
I want to feel Your peace
In the midst of these storms
Help me find relief

Help me be patient and still
And trust You in everything You do
As I know Your unfolding Will
Will be perfect, through and through

More of You, I desire to know
For that is what You want of me
So, in this heart let Your love and peace overflow
Help me trust You completely

For, as I get to know You more
Things will start coming into place
And You will calm the stormy weather at my door
Then put a smile on my face

Author notes

My one and only desire is to know God more. It is then that my life will be more complete and whole. But it is hard, very hard to trust Him when you are going through so much. And I am. But this is my prayer to Him. And hopefully soon things will get better in my life and I will be able to see and feel hope.

Ashley, I don't believe in the Lord at all but your poem still moved me. I have no faith, no belief, but you sure impressed me with your resolution and refusal to be sad, in spite of some darkness in your life unconnected to your CP. You look lovely outside and are clearly lovely inside too - which means more to me. Good luck. camus x

Excellent! I am so encouraged by this. I am in the middle of a rough time and this truth is so helpful in reminding me of my need for my Savior. Excellent job and I hope that the Lord blesses and keeps you. Keep crying out to him.
