Drawing ever nearer to the day
that jolly old man
in his red and white suit
uses his magic
to come down the chimney
and what a great trick that is
since I don't have one
Stockings have been hung
from the balustrade with care
decorations and spray-on snow
adorn the christmas tree this year
home made cookies and a warm glass of milk
wait for santa on the table
near the foot of the stairs
A list of presents I no longer make
for he knows what I like
and surprises are best
everyone is happy with what Santa left
but that's not what christmas
is really about
for it's not the receiving
but the giving that counts.

Hey Scott, firstly, great to see you back posting again
. This is a lovely piece full of the right sentiments for christmas, this echo's a conversation I had with my children just before christmas, all 4 of them sitting on the bed (because I couldn't get out!) having a deep and meaningful about what Christmas mean to us
well done my friend xx

Happy to read something new from you (even if it is old). Love the humor in the first stanza. Light and sentimental, a nice touch as always.
