Looking back at nothing
Turn around and live on
You look back again
But I am gone
Off to a better place
Away from this shallow existence
Until I emerge again
From this fortress of solitude
Back into the sun
From the depths of shadows
Coming up to see things in a whole new light
Change is good, but not always for the better
Take a look at life before you jump off the boat
And you can live again
'Cause to live is to understand who you are
Not what you have
That can change in an instant
But you cant change who you really are

Very well expressed poem full of truth. It is true that you have to truly know who you are, and not what you have. Because what you have isn't imporant, it doesn't make you the person you are, it's just materialistic. Great viewpoints and ideas. I really like this piece. Best of luck and thanks for entering

I like it, Take a look at life before you jump off the boat
And you can live again is my favorite part I think. I connected to this, it sounds like a big portion of my life that I had to change. So, you got some for nostalgia. You're a wonderful poet.
