Oh that my love could reach thine eyes
My moon-faced love could touch thy skin
That my tender bud could match a rose
A dove so pure could not be sin
For love so sweet could not begin
If not fear and hatred hath been dimed
And if thy love for me should stray
I would, oh dear one, fade away
I reach for thee, my moisten sweet
And pray my song will fly on feet
close enough for you to hear
And gather you, dear one, close and near
Oh that my sickened heart would break
If you were not there when I should wake
No warmth would the sun soon bring
And no winter followed by a spring
My moon-faced love could touch thy skin
That my tender bud could match a rose
A dove so pure could not be sin
For love so sweet could not begin
If not fear and hatred hath been dimed
And if thy love for me should stray
I would, oh dear one, fade away
I reach for thee, my moisten sweet
And pray my song will fly on feet
close enough for you to hear
And gather you, dear one, close and near
Oh that my sickened heart would break
If you were not there when I should wake
No warmth would the sun soon bring
And no winter followed by a spring
Author notes
In English class, my teacher thought it would be a good idea to show "Romeo and Juliet". You know, the one with Leonardo Dicaprio? Well, needless to say, all the girls were swooning by the end of class. I was walking down the hall and all of a sudden these Shakespearian lines came into my head, and I knew I had to write them down. Sorry the first stanza doesn't match the rest. I wasn't really in the rhythm of the poem yet...
Please tell me what you think

YAY!
Yay! More 'dear one' poems! I like the second stanza best, 'specially the last line. And the last two lines of the poem. Yay for last lines... I think you're right about the first stanza not matching but you did really really good with the rest. (You don't usually rhyme- I like this!)
Only problem: 'hatred hat' Ha ha!
