poetry is easy
its not like its real
its not like you tell the world
everything you feel
its not like you express yourself
and wear your heart upon your sleeve
its not like each word is a tear
and each line a thing to grieve
its not like you leave yourself open
and have no place left to hide
its not like your giving everything
while your totally dieing inside

I really enjoyed the message this poem gives. You say one thing yet mean the exact opposite (I know there's some big fancy word for that, but I can't think of it!). Well done!

I love the irony of this piece. The humility is excellent as well. We all know that every word we write comes with an owner's manual and a box of tissues to wipe our sweaty brow. We purge every emotion out into the words we place on these pages, and others come by to bow down to those words, understanding why and how it is done. Great idea and great piece! Hugs, Patricia
