Forever In My Heart

Missing image
I had to have an ultrasound,
To find out what was wrong.
"Your baby has died, I'm sorry"
Was the conclusion they came to.
They sent me home again that day,
Why? I have no idea
They said that they were busy,
And that this would have to wait.

So for three long days,
I had to grieve,
for a child that was within.

On the Monday you were born,
Very late into the night.
I got to hold you in my arms,
i had to say goodbye.

We buried you on Friday
In a coffin, oh so small.
I could have fit a shoe in it,
It nearly broke my heart.

But now I hold you close to me,
Forever in my heart.
And wait to see you, once again,
When from this earth I pass.

Hmm. A rhyming scheme might've worked well for this poem. Anyway, tons and tons and tons of emotion here. Truly heart-touching. Thanks for entering!

Aww..seriosuly powerful stuff, I don't think I can think of anything worse than losing a child. My parents gave birth to twins (very prematurely) before I was born and one of them died...I am sorry for your loss. Good luck and thanks for sharing your experience. Take care x

This poem is so painfully tragic, it's always the worst when a baby dies without being given the chance to live, I'm so sorry this had to happen to you, the poem was beautifully written, best of luck

Very beautiful and moving. Losing a child is such a painful experience. My sister had the same experience, she carried her baby for a week after she had already died. It was very overwhelming. I am so sorry for your loss. I hope you find peace for your heart. Thank you for your entry in my contest.

I loved this it is so beautiful. It also shows that to feel the words that wrote this poem you must have a very amazingly strong wonderful heart. I wish you every happiness in the future.

This is a very sad poem that you have written. I can't imagine how horrible it must feel to lose your unborn child. So innocent and true, but not destined unfortunately
I wish you a lot of strength in your grief

    Wow...

The whole thing was just deep, disturbing, painful all the way through, and I am so sad that you had to go through such a thing. It's always tragic for a parent to have to bury their child, but thank you very much for being strong enough to share this with the rest of us. I am honoured. I will keep you and your family in my prayers.

    God Bless,

    Laura

    Moving

Thank you for your contest submission. Very moving piece, too bad it doeasn't rhyme, ( see rules). On a personal point, this subject is one that is close to me, if a slightly diffferent variation, so I did feel the pain within the prose. Good Luck
