Blood

Blood
Is the color of my love for you
Black is the color of my heart
Pain drips through my veins
At the very merest thought of you
I'm insane
I'm in love
It's like an ivy
That grows inside me
With so many thorns, with so many thorns
Love is a disease that the hopless use to cure themselves
It spreads like fire
And it burns like fire
Putting in a place
Oneself in place of someone else
Down a spiral
Through past misfortunes
All i see today are people torturing themselves
They're insane
They're in love

    Dark Brilliant & Lovely!

I love it!You've got an amazing talent!Though I usually prefer the poetry that rhymes and flows, like a melody, this was so good it broke the barriers and has now proven to me that I can enjoy the kind of poetry that breaks down walls and flows freely as well!My good friend ears2hearyou told me what inspired you to write this and I am so sorry for your loss!I've experienced the loss of a friend from suicide too, though hers was due to drug abuse.Just try to think how they would want you to live though. We ought to live our lives to the fullest and hope they're up there watching and living vicariously through us so they can see that life can be wonderful sometimes too!
The grieveing process must take place in order for you to recover from the loss because you cannot make the pain go away for good....people try and it doesn't work, but writting is one of the best outlets to help get it out of your system so you're on the right path!I know it hurts to experience a loss like that but we must move on and one thing I once heard someone say that I think might help went something like this: "I can understand why people get upset when they lose someone, but they really ought to stop thinking about themselves being depressed and miserable without that someone and be happy for their loved one.One thing I never got is how people could be so upset if they believe in a Heaven. The one they loved will be forgiven for all their sins and either go to Heaven or be reborn to have another shot at life and maybe it'll be better the next time around. Why be sad for the ones we love or for ourselves? What good is sorrow and selfpity?Instead let us celebrate their life rather than mourning their death."
Also,I do not think we should believe everthing we're told (as if all books are completely factual and as if pepople are not creative and never lie, pretend, or believe in things that are imaginary)....like that if you kill yourself you're hellbound. That's BS and we should all know better than to think our God would not forgive us!We are too special and must not let those ideas get inside and rule our thoughts, which will force us to live in fear. Those things may be in some sacred holy book but that is not the word of GOD.It is the word of power hungry men looking to control people and instill fear in them so they wouldn't step out of line or do anything "crazy." Our leaders still do it to this day! They use the news and other media sources to make us feel fearful and helpless so we'll think we need them to protect us. We don't though!People have good in their hearts and we can live just fine without a government and some sick self righteous pedophile preacher who thinks he Christ reincarnated!Look at the wild west for example. They had crime in those days but no police force so random kindhearted civilians/vigilantes rose up to fight off evil and teach the "bad guys" a lesson and they were more successful then our modern justice system's law-eforcement officers. Our system chooses sympathy and mercy over harsh but just punishment that could actaully make a change in those men. There were tribes that could fight very well too back in the early stages of growing modern society. When the Native Americans land was under siege they had no police or (sometimes corrupt) govenrment or court systems to come to the rescue but they knew how to fight and use their knowledge of their environment to their advantage to defeat their opponets. The only reason they'd ever lost a battle was simply because their weaponry wasn't advanced enough.
I hope my words have helped you to see some light in the darkness and realize it's good to grieve but you can also take on another perspective and choose not to look at the situation through a cloud of negativity.Remember your lost love fondly and don't get stuck in the grieving state as some people do.You can regain your strength to move on if you care enough to try and have a little faith.
    -hugs- BLESSED BE

I agree with isabellacohen. To me, you start off well, then in the middle it becomes a bit cliche, but the last two lines are very strong.

i like the last two lines

I like how your poem end:

    "They're insane
    They're in love"

    I like that idea,
    thanks for sharing,
    Best wishes,
    Isabella

    well done poet!
It is natural for your heart to feel a little shaken up.
Death and Suicide is a pain that doesn't go away,
we learn to confront it....and make peace it with the
    best we know how.
Your poem reminded me of that song:
    Love breaks your heart....
    love asks no less then....everything
    You have LOVED with EVERYTHING!
and that is noble and honorable.

May you always hear our hearts and ink comfort you
    and encourage you.
WE understand it takes time, and we will stand
boldly by your side no matter how much time you
    need to heal.

I don't think this fits into my contest. It has a basic, musical flow but doesn't have a strong leaning toward a musical rhythm. Thanks for entering.

You're right. This would be good material for a song. Before I got together with my boyfriend, I felt the same way: that you had to be insane to be in love with someone. Thanks for the recommendation, it was worth it. Great job!
