As we hug, we start to cry,
neither of us wants to say goodbye.
I reach for your hand as you walk away,
but I pull back, knowing you can’t stay.
As you get in the car, reality hits,
you’re my best friend, and one that I’ll miss.
The car cranks up, and you drive away,
I wave goodbye, but I want you to stay.
Your face disappears as you drive over the hill,
there’s a void in my heart which no one can fill.
I stand quietly in the road, listening to the wind,
I can’t wait for the day I’ll see you again.
