Houdini

12-13-06

There’s only so much space between her bony arms
She can’t hold on to everyone
She uses strings, miscellaneous things
To tie her belongings together
But nothing can stop a force of nature, future
She wavers on her shaking knees
And knotted spine
Trying to hold up the weight of all of those
She cannot leave behind
Tumble down she loses one
Breaks away as opportunity comes
Friends fall behind like
Wrinkles in time
When you can’t hold the weight of them all
In your scrawny little palms
Dirty finger nails
Gnarled cuticles
Ironed product ridden hipster cut
With hip huggers, light flare
She sneaks in when they fall asleep
Weep for them without a trace
They’ll never know that she was there
She’s taken the skeletons out of her closet
And hurled them over her protruding shoulder blades
Through swelter and storm she walks on
With bodies and bones
Looking for something
But nothing at all

very good, the imagery is great, the way you write, slightly scattered or, maybe disconnected, it helps convey what is happening in the poem. I like it

    Abstract vision...

I like it. The title works as escapisim and flair.
Flinging the troubling woe of skeletons over the shoulder is an excelent visual. Great use of the imagination! Wonderful verses!--Robert
