Simple Pleasures

It is the simplest of gestures,

That brings me the greatest happiness

When it is the hour of slumber

You always seek my hand

Grasping it gently, kissing it tenderly

Then holding it snugly, we fall asleep

Together

We as a society are always searching for that bigger better deal that we forget to cherish the small things that make life grand. These tiny gestures are what truely brings hearts together and help forge a lifetime. I hope I never take another moment like that for granted again. I have before, become complacent, and lost such beauty. Simple write, powerful and lovely. Thank you

Yes, the little things – I can only echo your words and say “amen” to that. It is the little things, the “simple pleasures” that makes this life worthwhile – or not. You paint such a lovely, gentle scene of lovers with your words...to rest in the knowledge that when it grows dark, the loved ones hand is their. Such comfort in the little gestures between two people. Simply a lovely, soft poem – thank you so much for this entry.

Short, sweet and tender. Nice to see you writing again. It's been a while.
You're right, these are the kind of moments the cherish.

Thank you. It's nice to find a familiar face, and wonderful to renew old friendships.
