Lusterless Paragon

The cliffs of hope,
the bluffs of despair,
the escarpment of love,
the crag of ecstasy,
the precipice of a lusterless paragon.

Which face would you choose?

To scale the cliffs,
a brief yet arduous task,
to reach a top obscured,
but what benefits to reap!

What to do after lumbering down,
the craggy bluffs with no solid ground,
to plunge into water so murky,
with not an effulgent image in sight.

The crags are so short that a child could grasp,
a pitiful dwarf to the paragon above,
tromped upon by all people,
ignored for its innate beauty,
and abused for its ephemeral sights.

What of the precipace so high?
Whose cliff reaches out to the statosphere,
and stand a grand behemoth to scrape the sky,
granting the clouds rest upon its mighty back.
Yet so strong a giant the wind will erode,
to cut down after so long its life.
Does this cliff deserve admiration,
for its massive stature,
or for its lusterless beauty?

From below this mammoth people would stare,
gaze in wonder and astonisment,
to see the tedium of dull tan,
from atop people would stare,
to behold scenery august,
staggering in any season.
Climb the cliff or jocundity,
behold!
and rappel back down
this lusterless paragon unforgettable.

well I understand the beauty of such a nature I see in your piece... there was a lot of nature elements in it, but at times I think nature is not the main topic of this piece (I might be wrong and it just might be that my interpretation of the piece is erroneous) my favorite line was this, "What of the precipace so high" I know the feeling of seeing something so big and just wondering of its inmense power... but yeah I guess I am a nature lover too... but not completely though... since society has formed my later years in a complete separation from nature... but yeah I guess we are always trying to get back to our roots, and nature is my root... but yeah thanks for an entrie and good luck in the contest.

That... That's very interesting of a poem. I can see how you could tie it to society... I wish I could be more helpful in the "critique" department, but I'm rather a tad blown away.

It was meant to be about society originally. I think I trailed off a little...
