The Yearning

Missing image

Washing my hair with lavender,
I think of how it might be
to have your hands buried there,

your lips moving slowly
along the nape of my neck ~

gently lingering

when you near my mouth,
softly sighing my name.

I shiver,
but not from the cold.

    Marvelous!

Exquisite imagery you've used in this one. One of those moments where we forget to breathe we're so caught up in it. Simply a wonderful read. Thank you so much for sharing with us. All the best to you.

    Oh My

    Ok, so....
    Lavender breath and lavender hair.
    Does he like lavender,
    now he is there?
How could he not, how could he dare
    liken lavender to passion
    now he can share?
Oh gentle color, gentle hue of waiting
    waiting to deepen
    on lavender's love abating.

Speaking of baiting...I am waiting...on bated breath...no, that sounds like I had tuna for lunch...NOT!!!

I am waiting on love's ground belief in best things lavender or not.

"I shiver, but not from the cold"...such a wonderful way to end this poem, my friend. "shiver" because of the anticipation, of the intensity of the moment... How long till that day...??? A beautiful poem - a moment in the mirror, but also in every cell in the body! I can only sigh....

the scent of lavender sets the stage
and leaves pondering in the sense of warmth as he walks in to comfort you.

    Simply Said As Great

So much in so little, how words can have such an impact... Sweet, and to the point. It is like a dream. The lines that hit me most,
    "gently lingering
    when you near my mouth,
    softly sighing my name."
Great write, good luck in the contest,

Concise and beautiful . . . so much in so few words, as if you were standing before a mirror in reflection and these few gentle lines tumbled in a whisper from your mouth
