Hidden Beauty

As the sun caresses my skin,
My eyes follow
an ant's busy dance.

My mind now
enslaved, by this
creature's, quest for life.

Its true beauty,
hidden, deep within
a petite space.

My soul
yearns, for such
enabled spirited traits.

Its strength
of endurance
to achieve
its goal.

Its ability
to strive, within
trial and error.

Its desire
to defy
endless failure.

Its constant hope,
the face of courage,
A creature with
flowing willpower,
A model of size
is nothing,
for the combat
in a human's world.

A pest?
NO
A creation of nature
blessed
with
humanity's traits.

Very nice, I like the twist at the end, about how ants have humanity's characteristics. Very creative, with good imagery.
    Best of luck!

I would not call an ant beautiful but you are right in saying that if you look close enough you will find a hidden beauty inside this tiny creature.Well done and good luck in the contest. Val

    Wonderful

I admire the ant almost above all other insects for their tireless work, and as you said their never quit attitude. The poem had good flow and brought to light some of the ants many wonderful attributes. Well Done. Thank you for your submission and good luck!! Write On!! Fly

Beautiful. For everything there is a reason and a purpose...even the ant. Yet few recognise the beauty of the fulfillment of purpose!
    Bravo!

Ants have always intrigued me. How they live and what they accomplish is amazing. As a child I always enjoyed watching the specials on tv. You have captured the beauty of these hardworking creatures so well. Excellent!

    Firstly, a wonderful poem.

However, my contest was asking for descriptions of physical features. You did a great job with emotional ones, but it's still not what the contest was looking for. A great poem, but not something that fits the contest.

    I'm pressed, breath out now!!!

signs of a strong woman here, with mind glowing ventures like, loyalty and determination, as all ants have this and so does she. Lovely metaphors.

Hi, ants have my admiration always, they are hard workers and have great team work going on between them, a lovely poem, it is so easy to keep them out of the house I put a cup of brown sugar outside and they seem happy with that, lovely poem, all the best Di

first you birthed a butterfly in its rainbowing beauty, now you eulogize an ant in its enviable stregth of strive, i admit that some of these minute creatures are at times so much more exquisite than fellow humans, as to be conquered by their beguiling simplicity. why beguiling? because we, humans, in our misled vaingloriousness forget that each one of them is a miracle of creation as well, at times even more so than us, and the fact that we lack a common language does not necessarily make them any less valuable in this world. your eye is partly analytical, partly romantic, partly envious – the beauty of it (of this poem) is that you are never arrogant in your humanity.

Hey! This is pretty good stuff you have going on in here! I like it! I'm pretty sure I've read and commented on your stuff before and liked it then too. I think that you're right about the ants. I think they're pretty amazing creatures too. But when I say it, everyone looks at me funny! lol

    Excellent

This was a beautiful account of a much maligned worker. Beauty is indeed more than skin deep and your words have opened another dimension. I wrote a poem a while back called "The Army", in a similar strain. Good luck in this contest

this is simply a joy to read and to see

annie scott gave you the only advice that i would. your poems is a summary of the attributes of all the 10,000 buddhas. I was struck by the ant picture and your first stanza. so much in such a small thing....as a universe. your last line incorporaates this as a summary, this is simply very honest and pure writing. It is an anthemn of hope and encouragement.

I saw one place that needs to be adjusted, 1st verse, last line- "an ants dance" should look like this, "an ant's dance". Make sense? Otherwise you did good.

    Wonderful

This is well written. great imagery you have displayed here. The correlation between man and insect. The drive the desire. Very well done. I loved this. The ant is a very busy creature..always going, struggling to survive. Sounds a lot like a parent. Thank you for sharing this. and best of luck to you. Keep writing. Dawn
