Who Are They

Today they built a school
Tomorrow they will feed the hungry
They give toys to kids
And are cheered when they arrive

They just built a sewer system
Got power to 100,000 homes
That was just a week or so
These are very busy men

They treated the very sick
Provided medicine and care
You ask why I'm so proud
I'm humbled by their stand

They do more good by 10 o'clock
Then most will do in their life
And not just where I am
But all over the world

Do you know who they are
For the news won't tell you this
The greatest men and women
To have ever walked the earth

    so very true

I believe it is the military. Name a branch of the military, because it could be any one of them, or all of them. I really liked this. Your rythem and flow were very good and even though I have never been good at riddles, I think you described them so well, that this was easy. good job

I feel this way about my brother who is a Green Beret in Afghanistan. I must commend you on your chosen profession. I know so many people who have been offered to go to Iraq and work but refused b/c of the potential danger. You are so brave and courageous to have gone over and contracted there. You've seen more danger and despair than most will ever see. You've done so much good for everyone there and here. I hope that when you lay your head down at night that you see yourself as a hero. Please take care. Blessed Be.

Hmmm, my first thought is National Guard, do we still have the Peace Corps? I should know that. Great question. Can't wait for the answer.

    Indeed it is...

...those deeds we will have never had knowledge about. Your words go far beyond the ordinary, in describing this!!! Definitely will make me think in these terms, set me on that course ...more often. Your words are very genuine here!! God Bless!
    Respectfully,

hey charlie! i like riddles! this is a good one. now the answer wouldn't happen to be our United States Marines, is it? there are so many groups who do things but to cover all you wrote~ well that is all i can think of....or maybe it's the Red Cross....too many to pick from! you did a great job on this. keep smiling God bless you

    Wonderful

There are so many that fall in to this category. The angles that walk this earth.

Lovely thought provoking poem - good luck in the contest.

I have seen many stories lately on the news of certain groups going over to other countries and assisting with building and purifying water etc...
I know of many of my clients who have church groups who also do the same. There are college students who also go for six week frames to do the same types of volunteer work. The answer to me would be ordinary people who do extraordinary things.
This is a very good poem that does make one think. Well done dear poet. Good luck in the contest.

    excellent

Charlie this is a very thought provoking write. I can think of a few different answers, but cannot come to a conclusion as to which is the right one. I am guessing the CB's, I am not for certain but I am so very proud of whoever it is. Cause sunshine comes when they arrive. I can feel that just from your words.
