The Love of A Rose

As I walked a long the dirt filled trail I passed a sea of enchanting red roses
They all looked the same with every crisp leaf and petal complete and perfected
But as I grew to a fork in the path I had two ways that I could go.
One side continued with enchanting red roses, while the other looked cold and damp
As I chose the side with enchanting flowers I took a few steps and felt something was missing,
Something felt lacking and empty inside, so I held up some courage and chose the other path.
As I began walking down this path I came a cross a rose, neither perfect nor complete.
I wondered why a rose would be on the path of such coldness and darkness
So I plucked it in hopes I could return it to the other flowers so it would bloom with the rest.
As I took this flower I could feel a sense of security, an enchantment in its own form
I held the rose close to my heart in hopes I could fill it with a life of its own
And as I walked down the path I began to see the change in the surrounding as well as myself.
The grass began growing, the tree’s began blooming with leafs of beautiful colors,
And off in the distant I could see the other path, the flowers once enchanting now nothing but brown sad memories of what they had been.
I felt more secure, and fear was no longer an issue, but rather responsibility to keep this rose secure.
I’ve had this rose now for over 7 months, and its still not perfect nor is it complete.
But it continues to enchant and brighten the rest of what was once dark,
And I wouldn’t trade it for any other rose in the world.
