A flicker of light
Cold and cruel
Cutting, shattering the darkness into razor-sharp splinters
Showering in its hard, merciless light
Sterilized objects of pain, casually thrown upon a cloth
Reflecting the light, broken upon the surface
Gleaming in the scalpel, in the sterilized needle injecting sleep and oblivion
Underneath a green carpet, suddenly exposed to the cold scientific lens
By a cold hand is violated the ultimate privacy
Into the state where none should ever cast their eyes
Beyond the border of life
A frail body, now finally broken, but denied its claim to the sleep of eternity
Her eyes, of life utterly deprived, two black sockets gazing into the great void
The cold hand above her, with hard, mechanical movements putting on a pair of sterilized gloves
Mumbling to himself, gazing at the steel casket, reaching for the scalpel
Then, exposing her secrets to the light, the knife is brought to the flesh
Then penetration, precise and perfectly controlled
The delicate tool is cutting through the entangled web of veins, flesh and muscle
Leaving unprotected heart, lungs, and abdomen
The muscles keeping them in place is severed, and gently removed, kept artificially alive, to be further examined at a later date
Her white body is numb and white, struggling to wake from her drug induced sleep
Deep down her soul registers the removal of her vital organs
Eyes suddenly flickering open, unarticulated cries of panic, people fleeing in terror
Through a mist of pain, the vision of a heart, drenched in blood, writhing in pain
Crying tears of blood, she behold through her darkening senses
An obstinate heart, slowly beating – in a bowl of steel…
