1 + 1 = 1

Have you ever thought that 1 + 1 could be one?
Have you ever thought that you and me could be one?
Have you ever thought that sun and moon could be one?
Have you ever thought that fire and wood could be one?
Have you ever thought that black and white could be one?
Have you ever thought that love and hate could be one?
Have you ever thought that silence and noise could be one?
Have you ever thought that what you are could be one?

Janaka says:
Between two fingers
Could there be more than one space?

When we are one... there is neither you nor me... Just a silent smile...

      silent smiling

thank you, dear suryame, for the radiance of the silent smile, and the both faces which are only one.

Nice. To be honest I have a preference for overly complicated poems. I often fall short of it in my own work, but I guess we all have our preferences

While I do like the space between the fingers, I actually finished it thinking 'who's Janaka?'

      zen

thank you, welbis, for your feedback. i should admit that i love the like-zen simplicity. but understand a preference toward a more sophisticated expression. also as my mother tongue is not english, it is easier for me to minimize! a way of life. janaka is a non-existant being, who symbolizes the inner wisdom.

    Great ending

I loved the last line. If you read all my comments you will see that this is the first thing I focus on when reading a piece of poetry. I liked the way you asked questions and then how you answered those questions with the powerful conclusion. This is a very good piece and carries conviction. Thank you for entering this into my contest.

      behind the stage

many thanks for your kind welcome, and your opportunity to share about oneness. we are so attracted by the multiple, that we sometimes forget that which lies behind the stage!
