The Path

Missing image
The world has not a real purpose
It’s to us to discover one

This requires a certain courage
Perhaps more, imagination

Glimpsed in certain mangled thoughts
Dismissed as crazy and ignored

Heard in poems, read in sacred texts
Purposed in angelic message

Ignorance distorts hearts and minds
Blinding us in our true desires

Blockading our one, clear purpose
And expanding our emotional cravings

We fixate some person or thing
We imagine will fulfill us

Forgetting all that is composed
Will decompose, and turn to dust

It’s not us who decide our path
We provide it with direction

This is our only real power
Guiding ourselves onto the path

Through a world of sickness and suffering
Toward, what inside, our soul knows is righteous

So full of wisdom, truth, and clarity. Sad that what the world sees as a "whore" is really something quite different...her message has been adulterated by those too frightened to appreciate it. Thank you for making me think yet again.

A masterpiece in my amist. I have completely fallen in love with your work. It's hit my soul and it makes me search for a deeper meaning and that's all that I can ask for. I loved the overall message with makes it stand apart from all the others. Thank you and best of luck in the contest.

    inspirational

This is an inspiring poem. It is full of very deep thoughts and feelings. You have expressed them well in your two lines verses and provided much food for thought. I like the way your last verse gives a conclusion, which is uplifting, and the esssence of the whole poem. Well done.

    Wonderful

I really like this piece of your work you have done here. It touched my heart

Poetry brings the heart to surface and our minds to wonder.

I write from love and emotions.. I find it easy for us to be lead in another direction of our desires each and every day.

Heard in poems, read in sacred texts
    Purposed in angelic message

    Ignorance distorts hearts and minds
Blinding us in our true desires

I love this work of yours..

The opening lines are magnificent! But then so is the rest of "the path" that leads toward the very enlightened closing.

I'm glad I read this - I have a better understanding of your philosophy on life.

Great write! I'm very impressed - not only by your writing, but by your ancient spirit.

    A light on the path

Well, This simply blue me away! So often we fixate upon an idea, a person or a thing, thinking wrongly that we will be complete once we make it part of our life. (Thanks to Jerry McGuire)But we all are indeed complete, not sinners or saints, but spirits having the experience of being human.

Well chosen words to help light the path of many readers!

    Namaste!

What an interesting picture you chose for this poem - the road ahead is filled with many twists and turns, and do we really want to travel all that way to find out we don't want to be there? Thing is there is someone who guides us and leads us in the right directions; only thing is we sometimes make the wrong choices and take the wrong turns.

    Very Indepth

Wow, I actually had to read this a couple times. This really makes one think. This is not to be taken likely. This feels like the one message that we need, like it is the path for ones life. The wording, the phrasing, is awesome as usual.

    Much better

This is much better and is much smoother. The metre or rhythm is as crucial as the words used. I could imagine reading this aloud. I always do that when writing them. Not finished till I can read it right through. This reads to me like a reflection on karma. Nice poem.

    Good

I wasn't aware that Mary Magdalen ever wrote anything, never mind a gospel! However, I like your poem and agree that we define our own purpose in life (or not, as the case may be). Life does'nt have a purpose unless we give it one.
    Regards,
    Bill

    Enlightening

Really great poem here. I enjoyed it very much, it is so true. We must discover life, because it's already discovered us. All the best,

    Needs work

The world has no real purpose in of itself
It is given to us to discover one

This is too wordy. It could equally read:
The world has no purpose - the rest is otiose and adds nothing.

It is for us to discover it. Or similar.

You need to prune this poem down.

Just my opinion you understand, I could be wrong

The problem is, your suggestions change the meaning of the poem. Do you know what the poem is about? ~PeacE~GarY~

    Illuminating

I always believe a light shines onto the Path and we often choose to stay in darkness. Very good philosophical piece, lots to ponder. Clearly written. Thanks for sharing. Have a blessed day.
